"100 Views of Great Tokyo in the Shōwa Era" by Koizumi Kishio / kk088_1937_w013_subway
|
The first subway line was constructed in Tokyo in 1927, linking Ueno to Asakusa; in 1934 it was extended
to Shinbashi. Koizumi shows the car transporting shoppers to the large department stores in Nihonbashi and Ginza.
Seen through the window of the subway car are the artificial flowers that were used as a welcome sign by the stores.
